Originally from San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, Miguel currently resides in Washington, DC. He is an Emmy winner and Grammy nominated film director and an international photographer.

Miguel grew up surrounded by art in the colonial town of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, and at home where his father was an artisan and his mother a chef.  During this time, his father was gifted a Canon AE-1 camera which quickly became Miguel’s as his passion grew for documenting the world around him.

In the early 90’s, Miguel’s family immigrated to the United States, eventually landing them in Charlottesville, Virginia where he spent his formative years.  After graduating from high school, he went on to create the first ever bilingual radio show in Central Virginia that ran for eleven years.

In 2007, Miguel relocated to the DC area and began his filmmaking career. in 2010 he was the Winner of the Tribeca All Access Creative Promise Award from the Tribeca Film Institute. In 2016 he premiered his award winning documentary “Farewell Ferris Wheel” at the AFI Docs film festival. That same year he was also invited to The White House to speak about the film.  In October 2017, “Farewell Ferris Wheel” made its television debut on PBS. On April 2018 Farewell Ferris Wheel started streaming on Netflix and that same year the film was nominated at the 33rd Imagen Award for Best Documentary and the 39th News & Documentary Emmy Award.

In 2021, Miguel started an EMMY award winning production company with his business partner Jamie Sisley named Aster Creative Co.
